The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is a non-profit organization that reports to the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding. The NYCEDC is charged with encouraging economic growth in New York City through a variety of means, including facilitating real estate development, improving infrastructure, attracting and retaining businesses, and conducting economic research and analysis. Internship Description
NYCEDC is seeking a highly capable intern to join our women.nyc initiative, which aims to make NYC the best city in America for women to launch and sustain their careers and businesses. The Community Engagement Scholar will work with the team across the projects analyzing our target audience and using strategic ways to involve them in our programs and efforts to support them. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in women’s career advancement, possess research, writing and social media skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
- Lead digital communication of women.nyc’s programs across all channels to build community around women.nyc’s programs, in order to increase program impact and reach.
- Assist the women.nyc team in all aspects of the project management lifecycle, including strategic analysis, procurement and planning, partnership development, and project implementation across multiple areas such as the childcare innovation lab, women networking platforms, career support for women, etc.
- Research new and existing city initiatives and projects, and suggest possible collaborations relevant to women.nyc’s mission.
- Help team plan, coordinate, and execute events supporting the full range of projects.
- Staff women.nyc events.
Additional Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong social media chops
- Demonstrated interest in economic development, urban planning, public policy, social impact, women’s rights, NYC government and/or business development
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, with ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Proactive self-starter and team player; able to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Research, partnership presentation, event planning and social media skills preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Problem solving, especially with innovative and creative solutions
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to requests for information
