What attracted you to the Keller Center?

In Spring 2018, I enrolled in Technology and Society for an introduction to technology policy. I loved the creativity used in my team’s final project and the range of cases studied in class, and decided to enroll in the certificate program! Since sophomore year, the IT track has introduced new departments and learning strategies that have nicely complemented ORFE classes and fostered a commitment to innovation.

How have you benefited from your involvement with the Keller Center?

The Keller Center has challenged me to broaden my horizons and consider new ideas. In addition to new topics introduced through the Technology and Society certificate, the Keller Center’s support of the 2019 Envision Breakout Trip allowed for an understanding of technology's impact on society. Visits ranging from a medical AI startup to the MIT Media Lab showed the vast range of ways technology is at work, and the large community of innovators working towards inspiring goals.

What are your academic or career goals?

I hope to pursue a career in government and national security. I have always been fascinated in the overlap between public service and problem solving, and hope to follow a path that regularly combines the two. The Technology and Society classes taken with the Keller Center have provided a broad introduction to technology’s place in the policy and security realms, and are sure to prove helpful long after graduation!
