Student entrepreneurs working in the eLab Summer Accelerator took a break from developing their business plans to cool off with a free Kona Ice on Tuesday afternoon. It was the perfect day for a shaved ice treat as the temperature soared into the 90s and the good ole New Jersey humidity hovered at 50%.
Passersby to the Princeton Entrepreneurial Hub driveway were invited to beat the heat with the innovative cohort of Princeton students!
Fun Fact: The origin of shaved ice can be traced back to Japan's Heian period, with the earliest evidence of the dish arising roughly one millennium ago. The dessert, known as kakigōri (かき氷), consisted of shavings from a block of ice mixed with a sweet syrup. The cool treat was reserved for the elite, as ice could only be sourced in the dead of winter and needed to be stored in large ice houses or caves to prevent melting.
The eLab Summer Accelerator is a 10-week immersive program providing the tools and resources students need to develop and launch their startups. The teams will pitch their business solutions at Keller's annual Demo Days on campus on Aug 2 and in New York City on Aug 4.
