Remote platform helps designers bridge distance and build solutions

Meet Han Lee (left), rising sophomore in Electrical and Computer Engineering based in Seoul, Korea and Raneem El Torky (right), a rising senior in Civil and Environmental Engineering based in Alexandria, Egypt. Despite the miles between them (approximately 5,292), Han and Raneem are both working as impact designers in the Keller Center's Tiger Challenge summer program.  

Before kick starting their Tiger Challenge session every day, Han and Raneem both enjoy working out. Han practices Jujitsu and Raneem spends her mornings playing squash.  
 
Han is part of the Racist Everyday Technologies team. They are working on innovative solutions that seek to understand and solve technological bias and prejudices. 

 
Raneem is a member of the Sustainable Reusable team. They seek to better understand promises of eco-friendly bag alternatives within the context of the upcoming NJ state-wide single-use plastic and paper bag ban.

Both designers are using human-centric techniques and design thinking methodologies they are learning in the program to approach their problems with creativity, empathy, and open-mindedness in an effort to create lasting sustainable impact.
